Motorcycle Maintenance Stand:

The Intruder (as do many motorcycles) lacks a center stand for use during maintenance and cleaning. I came up with a simple (and cheap) solution. I used 2 x 4's to make the center stand, as well as the lever arm for picking up, and lowering the bike. The lever arm shown is about the right length (40") to provide enough leverage and reach so that one person can lift the bike up and down with little effort.

Place the stand under the motorcycle like this Rotate the arm towards the rear to lift the motorcycle up. The stand can also be placed forward to lift the front wheel off the ground Notice how the arm is connected to the blocks of wood.

Place the stand under the motorcycle as shown, with the handle pointing up. Rotate the handle towards the rear of the motorcycle to lift it up off the ground. If you want to raise the rear wheel, place it towards the rear of the frame. (On my Intruder, it is placed underneath the battery box.) If you want to raise the front wheel, place the stand more forward, under the main frame.
